Iran holds the first rank in designing and manufacturing automobile engines in the Middle East and among the Islamic countries
Talking at the National Conference on Combustion Engines, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the Minister of Industries and Mines referred to Iran’s high capabilities in the technology of designing, prototyping and commercializing engines and said, “CNG-base engine was designed and commercialized in less than two years while six months ago we unveiled heavy diesel engine for ships and power plants.”
He further added that in order to complete the fuel portfolio and confront a probable sanction on gas import, diesel engine design began two years ago and the experts succeeded in designing and producing CNG and diesel engines.
Mehrabian referred to designing and producing CNG and diesel engines as signs of dynamism and progress in Iran’s automotive industry and said, “Using the world’s most up to date technologies opens a new chapter of industrial development in the country; electric car technology is another sample that carmakers and academic experts are working on.”
